Hey! I have the SA 2100 from Cox. Cox always uses a regular cable box and it works pretty good as well. I nver have trouble with their service plus the package rate i have is good. we dont stay at home that much anyway but i have all the channels i need at home. as for your question if it requires Ir or Rf, just call the customer support line they have. the lines may seem to be always tied up but after a few tries,their helpful tech support agents will answer your every question
