Charter Teams Up With Epix

Charter Communications takes one more step in insuring that it remains to be one of the top players in cable operations. On May 2010, Charter’s customers will be able to enjoy Epix’s selections of videos and movies.

Epix is a feevee service that is owned by movie and TV giants Viacom, MGM and Lionsgate. It has been a hit with viewers because it offers concert specials, comedy shows and block-buster movies such as Precious, Star Trek and G.I Joe.

Right now, Cox Communications and Mediacom, two of Charter’s rivals, have already made their own deals with Epix to so that they could add it to their own roster of selected channels.

Even if Epix is new in the industry, its main pitch to cable providers is its being able to know what the viewers want to see and enjoy, either through television or high-speed internet platforms.

It has been highly successful and Charter Communications wants to advantage of that success by striking a deal. Currently, there is no word on how much Charter will charge for adding Epix to its roster of channels. Charter’s competitor Verizon, however, charges $9.99 a month to subscribers.
